Virtual Urgent Care visits are just $50, payable with a credit card. Alternatively, you can also use your insurance by selecting one of the listed options at the start of your visit, and entering your information. If you are using insurance, you may be responsible for any associated copays or deductibles (if applicable).

Who are the providers who will see me in Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care?

You will be matched to a Houston Methodist provider for your virtual care visit. You will receive the same quality care that you would expect from an in-person visit.

When should I go to an emergency room instead of scheduling a video visit?

    Video visits are not appropriate for emergencies. If you are experiencing a serious or life-threatening medical emergency, such as a stroke, breathing problems, seizures, a head injury, neck or spine issues, electric shock, severe burns or poisoning, please call 911. 

I need a primary care physician (PCP). Can I use Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care instead?

Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care is intended for non-emergent, urgent care needs. It is a great solution when you need to see a provider quickly, but should not replace your primary care physician for ongoing wellness. To schedule an in-office visit with a PCP, please contact the Houston Methodist Primary Care Group Scheduling Center at 713.394.6724.

Is there an age limit for patients to use this service?

You must be at least 18 years of age to establish an account with Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care. Providers can see patients as young as 2 years of age. If your child is under 2, call your pediatrician or visit our urgent care partner, Next Level Urgent Care.

Will I get to choose the provider when I use Virtual Urgent Care?

When you start your video visit, you will be assigned a Houston Methodist provider. You do not get to choose your provider.

What if I need a follow-up appointment?

During your appointment, a provider will assess your condition and, in some cases, may recommend you schedule an in-person visit for a complete diagnosis. Additionally, a follow-up appointment or referral to a specialist may be recommended. If an additional appointment is needed, your provider will notify you during your visit.

Where should I take my virtual appointment?

To receive the best care, we recommend taking your appointment from a quiet, private location that is convenient for you. This may include your home, a parked car or your office. We do not recommend taking your appointment from a moving vehicle or in a public location. 

How long does a video visit last?

Video visits typically last around 10 to 15 minutes.
