Exercise Physiology Testing
We perform a number of tests to help athletes track and measure performance and meet their goals. These tests include but are not limited to:
-
Blood lactate profiling
-
Body composition analysis DEXA
-
Resting metabolic rate
-
Energy expenditure
-
Estimated lactate threshold
-
Maximal lactate steady state
-
VO2 Max test
-
Skinfold calipers
What Is a Resting Metabolic Rate Test?
Our weight loss plans are based on resting metabolic rate (RMR), which represents the energy expended at rest. RMR is the minimal amount of energy expenditure needed to support basic physiological processes, which account for 60 to 75 percent of the total energy you expend each day.
This test takes 20 to 30 minutes to administer and will show how many calories your body burns at rest. We then use this information to determine how many calories your body needs to maintain its current weight, and provide guidelines on expected weight loss based on a certain calorie diet. We include an exercise, lifestyle and weight loss consultation based on results.
Patients are in a relaxed, lying down position while breathing through a mask. Patients should fast for at least eight hours prior to the test and avoid stimulants, such as caffeine and nicotine. For optimal results, it is preferable to administer the RMR test in the morning.
