The Methodist Hospital has named Dr. Ann Scanlon McGinity its new chief nursing executive. She also serves as a vice president of operations at the hospital.

Scanlon McGinity joined Methodist in 1999 as vice president of operations and has been one of the principle architects of the nursing organization.

Scanlon McGinity has more than 30 years of nursing, nurse leadership and health care administration experience including positions at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The University Of Maryland Medical System. In her new position, she will oversee the strategic and operational aspects of the more than 1,200 members of Methodist Hospital’s nursing organization.

She also holds an appointment as clinical assistant professor with the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine, as well an adjunct faculty position with the University of Texas School of Nursing.

A member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, she is an accomplished writer and lecturer, most recently having edited Wisdom in Nursing: Voices of Nurses published through The Methodist Hospital.
