Susan Mathew, M.D., is joining the Sugar Land staff of Houston Methodist Rheumatology Associates.

Dr. Mathew cares for patients with a wide range of rheumatic diseases, with a special emphasis on lupus. She comes to Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital from Geisinger Medical Center, a clinical campus of Temple University in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she served a fellowship in rheumatology.

“Dr. Mathew’s experience and knowledge will be a great asset to our team,” says Angela McCain, M.D., of Houston Methodist Rheumatology Associates. “Her background in working with patients across the spectrum of rheumatic diseases will strengthen our ability to provide care and treatment to those who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, inflammatory muscle diseases, psoriatic and reactive arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and more.”

Dr. Mathew attended the University of Debrecen Medical Health Science Center in Hungary and graduated from The American University of Integrative Sciences, St. Maarten University in Netherlands Antilles. She completed her medical residency at Temple University’s West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also fulfilled a clinical rotation in rheumatology, with a lead expert on lupus, at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Mathew will be available to see patients at the Sugar Land office of Houston Methodist Rheumatology Associates starting in November. To schedule an appointment, call 281.980.2717.
