Houston Methodist St. John Hospital Changes Name
Houston Methodist St. John Hospital is changing its name today to Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital to better reflect its commitment to the Clear Lake area and the communities it serves.
“For more than four years as Houston Methodist, we have made significant improvements in the quality of patient care and service," said Dan Newman, CEO of Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. "Our new name clearly identifies our location and better describes how people refer to our geographical area."
The hospital has recently expanded its presence in the community to include a new primary care clinic in Friendswood and new physician offices in League City.
Two other hospitals are changing their names to better align with their communities. Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital will change to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. And Houston Methodist St. Catherine Hospital will change to Houston Methodist Continuing Care Hospital.
More than five years ago, The Methodist Hospital System changed its name to Houston Methodist to better align the system with the areas it serves and to differentiate itself from other “Methodist” hospitals around the country.
“We hope these new names will help more patients discover Houston Methodist and everything we have to offer,” said Marc Boom, M.D., CEO and president of Houston Methodist. “We continue to be excited about these hospitals bringing leading medicine to their communities.”
