Stroke Education & Outreach Program
The Stroke Education and Outreach Program at the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute and the Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center provides education for patients and their families, health care professionals and members of the community (such as disease support groups and civic organizations). Presentations are given at schools, local health fairs, community events, affiliated hospitals and professional conferences and meetings.
Neurological Institute community educators on stroke teach about healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of recognizing the signs and symptoms of stroke using the FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) assessment and knowing when to get immediate treatment. Members of our team provide a wealth of information and educational materials about risk factors and how to prevent stroke.
