Digestive Disease Week Presenters Offer a Diverse Range of Expertise
April 21, 2023 - Eden McCleskeyEach year, Digestive Disease Week (DDW) brings together professionals in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery to learn about the latest research, technology and advances in patient care.
This year's conference will feature a variety of Houston Methodist experts leading sessions on a diverse range of topics, from GI diseases in pregnancy to biomarkers of severe pancreatitis to the development of new noninvasive tests for liver disease.
Houston Methodist Chief of Gastroenterology Dr. Eamonn Quigley, one of the best-known figures in the field, will lead a symposium on improving care of patients with dyspepsia by understanding when gastroparesis diagnoses are appropriate and when they are not.
Dr. Mazen Noureddin, a recent addition to Houston Methodist's faculty and a rising star in the field of liver disease, will deliver a prestigious "State-of-the-Art" lecture discussing new, noninvasive diagnostic testing options and best practices for patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and steatohepatitis.
Other Houston Methodist presentations will include Chief of Thoracic Surgery Dr. Min Peter Kim on changing risk factors for robot-assisted hiatal hernia and gastroesophageal reflux surgery; Dr. Bincy Abraham on GI diseases in pregnant women; and Dr. Thomas McCarty on a biomarker of severity in pancreatitis.
