About Dr. Matthew G. Kaufman
"Born and raised in Houston, with roots at Houston Methodist Hospital, I bring advanced reconstructive expertise (including microsurgery) to complex surgical cases. My mission is to restore form and function with compassionate care, helping patients continue life with confidence."
Dr. Matthew Kaufman is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He specializes in complex reconstructive microsurgery, including breast reconstruction.
Born at Houston Methodist Hospital and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Kaufman earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he was inducted into the prestigious AOA Honor Medical Society. Following medical school, he completed his integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Kaufman furthered his surgical training by completing the hand and microsurgery fellowship at the Buncke Clinic in San Francisco, California, considered by many to be the birthplace of microsurgery. During this time, he developed cutting-edge techniques in lymphatic surgery as well as complex reconstructive microsurgical procedures.
Dr. Kaufman has many interests within plastic surgery, including breast reconstruction, lymphedema, robotic surgery, cancer and trauma reconstruction, upper extremity surgery, and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Kaufman strives to provide personalized treatment within an informative and compassionate environment to help each patient meet their goals. Outside of medicine, Dr. Kaufman enjoys spending time with his wife and son.
