About Our Fellowship
The Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at the Nantz National Alzheimer Center of Houston Methodist Neurological Institute was accredited in 2020 by the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties. A partnership between the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry of Houston Methodist Hospital allows for fellows to acquire experience in the diagnosis and management of a variety of disorders including but not limited to:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Frontotemporal dementia
- Lewy-Body dementia
- Vascular cognitive disorder
- Cognitive effects of epilepsy
- Traumatic brain injury
- Synaptic autoantibody disorders
Emphasis is given to the correlation of the clinical syndrome with anatomic imaging provided by MRI and molecular imaging with PET, including tracers for amyloid, tau, inflammation and cholinergic activity. Dr. Masdeu is Co-Director of a UCNS-approved Neuroimaging Fellowship.
The fellowship program is expected to be completed in a 12-month program with monthly rotations, beginning either July 1st or August 1st of each year.
