Join Our Weill Cornell Medical College Affiliated Adult Neurology Residency
Our four-year accredited adult neurology residence program offers comprehensive training in clinical neurology and mentorship in the clinical and basic sciences that provides a strong foundation for the practicing neurologist and physician-scientist. The program has a high faculty-to-resident ratio, which allows residents access to training yet also challenges them to be life-long learners.
Innovative Training
Center for Neural Systems Restoration
Houston Methodist and Rice University established the joint Center for Neural Systems Restoration to serve as an innovation hub dedicated to advancing the frontiers of translational neuroscience, to understanding the function of the human brain, and to developing next-generation technologies, neural prosthetics and rehabilitation regimens for the treatment of neurological conditions. This joint collaborative space and environment nurtures functional interactions between engineers and researchers at Rice and neurosurgeons, neuroscientists, and regeneration biologists at Houston Methodist.
Neuroscience PhD Program
New Ivy League Neuroscience PhD Program
Houston Methodist initially collaborated with the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGS) to offer a doctoral program in Physiology, Biophysics, and Systems Biology (PBSB), which recently accepted its third class of students. In 2023, WCGS expanded its PhD program in Neuroscience to Houston Methodist with its first class of students. This new program spans basic, translational and clinical research.
Fellowships and More
Through our primary academic affiliation with Weill Cornell Medical College, we're proud to be ranked in the 98th percentile nationally for education in the neurological sciences.
Our fully accredited educational programs provide exposure to complex cases, state-of-the-art technology, and high patient volumes and are designed to prepare the best and brightest future neurologists.
Neurology Clerkship Program
We work with many different schools and provide various opportunities for medical students interested in neurology and our residency program. Learn More >
Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship
A one-year accredited post-graduate clinical neurophysiology fellowship program is comprised of all aspects of clinical neurophysiology and encompasses electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction, sleep, evoked potentials, intra-operative monitoring and additional clinical testing modalities. Learn More >
Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship
A one-year accredited neuromuscular medicine fellowship focuses on clinical neuromuscular medicine and includes electro-diagnostic medicine, neuropathology, clinical/translational experience and rehabilitation. The neuromuscular fellowship provides a large and varied clinical experience with more than 75 neuromuscular patients evaluated each week, from both inpatient and outpatient services. Learn More >
Neuroimaging Fellowship
The Neuroimaging Fellowship includes clinical and, for fellows with research interest, research components as well. The fellowship requires twelve months dedicated to neuroimaging but there is flexibility in structuring this time. Learn More >
Vascular Neurology Fellowship
The Vascular Neurology Fellowship program focuses on training the next generation of research specialists to lead the field in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery. Learn More >
Movement Disorders Fellowship
The Department of Neurology offers a one-year fellowship in Movement Disorders. Fellows will received training in the diagnosis and treatment of various movement disorders including but not limited to Parkinson's disease, dystonia, spasticity, tremor, restless legs syndrome, atypical parkinsonian disorders, Huntington’s disease, chorea, Tourette's syndrome, ataxias, hemi-facial spasm, Wilson’s disease, stiff person syndrome, stereotype, paroxysmal dyskinesia, myoclonus, and functional movement disorders.
