Wound Care Services at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital to participate in wound care awareness week
Wound Care Services at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, a member of the Healogics network, is participating in Wound Care Awareness week from June 6 – June 10. Wound Care Services at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, offers several advanced therapies and treatment options for patients with chronic wounds.
The third annual week-long nationwide celebration helps raise awareness about chronic wounds and advanced treatment options through education. It is estimated chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, due to an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to a diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
“Some of our patients live with non-healing wounds for a prolonged amount of time due to a lack of awareness about advanced wound care treatment options,” said Keith Barber, chief executive officer, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital & senior vice president, Houston Methodist. “Our talented team of physicians and staff work closely with patients to educate them about their wound care treatment options and develop a personalized plan that includes the benefits of advanced wound care. Our entire medical team provides coordinated care to ensure patients have the support they need throughout the healing process.”
